The thermal conductivity of SpreFix G has been tested, 1 = 0.033 W/m* ℃. This is a good value, and considering that no thermal bridges occur after application due to adhesion to the surface, it is far superior to other materials.
Railway wagons in Sweden and Finland are completely insulated with SpreFix G, as are naval vessels in Sweden. In Sweden, we have insulated over 1200 wagons over a period of ten years. – Many wagons have been examined during and after renovations and no problems have been detected with SpreFix insulation, even though the application was made about 20 years earlier.
SpreFix not only provides thermal insulation but also sound absorption and condensation control.
SpreFix G provides a high level of sound absorption and can therefore be used to solve various problems with acoustics in ships and buildings.
The material allows you to spray on any surface and still achieve a stylish interior. The surface can be painted and given different surface structures according to the customer’s choice.

One of the best features of SpreFix is its ability to contain large amounts of water vapor and release the vapor without damaging the insulation or its adhesion to the substrate.
This means that SpreFix insulation can minimize damage to substrates and structures by “controlling” humidity, which is one of the basic ingredients that causes rot and corrosion.
This is a major problem with other materials currently used, such as insulation panels where water vapor accumulates and results in damage to the insulation and substrate.
The diagram below shows how the materials absorb and release water vapor. The curve for SpreFix tells us that there will never be any accumulation of vapor in the material and therefore will not cause rot or corrosion. Click to see larger images.
Fire protection is probably the form of insulation that places the highest demands on materials and application methods. Steel construction is one of the areas where SpreFix is of great advantage. No mechanical fasteners are needed and there are no seams that will negatively affect fire resistance. No other tested system, where only stone wool and polymer binders are used, is available on the world market today.
SpreFix S, density 150㎏/㎥ is grey in its natural colour and has the same properties as SpreFix G in sound absorption, condensation control and thermal insulation, but is used where fire classification is required. SpreFix S is used as fire protection in almost all applications: such as in steel construction, offshore installation, firewalls and turbine insulation, for roofs, duct insulation and roof angles. But especially in the offshore environment, SpreFix is far ahead.
SpreFix S has been approved as fire insulation, A-60 Deck and Bulkhead, by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), IMO Resolution A.517(13).
SpreFix is tested according to IMO/ISO regulations which have stricter criteria than BS/ASTM.
The diagram shows the fire resistance values for different steel structures at a steel temperature of 450℃.
